Es decir que, cuando aparece el Pronombre Personal "I" en una oracion, el verbo "To Be" que debemos usar es "Am".

Cuando el pronombre es

He - She - It

debemos usar el verbo "Is".

Cuando el Pronombre es

You – We - They

debemos usar "Are".

La forma contraida del Verbo suele usarse en conversaciones o textos informales.

Examples

I am interested.

(Yo estoy interesado).

She is tall and pretty.

(Ella es alta y linda).

They are students.

(Ellos son estudiantes).

Emily is my sister.

(Emily es mi hermana).

Emily equivale al pronombre "She" (ella), se usa el verbo "Is".

Tom and Emily are friends.

(Tom y Emily son amigos).

El sujeto "Tom and Emily" equivale al pronombre "They" (ellos), por esto se usa el verbo "Are".

I 'm 23 years old.

(Yo tengo 23 años).

En el caso de la edad, el verbo "To Be" se traduce como "tener".

Manny is 3 years old.

(Manny tiene 3 años).

NEGATIVE

Para negar el Verbo "To Be" no se necesita un auxiliar, este verbo tiene forma negativa por si mismo, como lo muestra el siguiente cuadro.
